From: Nick

Subject: 4×4 Accessories

Message Body: I was wanting some advice and a quote on a suspension set up for my 2015 GU Nissan Patrol Wagon.

I was thinking around a 2-3 inch lift including upgrading the steering dampener to handle 33 inch tyres, castor angle corrections, and anything else you would recommend to allow for a comfortable ride that will still perform well.

I don’t want an overly hard or soft suspension.

Car is fitted with an ARB steel bull bar and carries a 60L Engle at all times. Thats about all the constant load it has.

Good Afternoon Nick

Thank you for your enquiry into lift kit options for your Nissan Patrol GU Wagon.

We have a lot of options available in 2 and 3 inch lift heights.
To simplify the decision making process, I will break down for you’re the minimum components you will need to achieve each of these lifts in your wagon both safely and comfortably.
From there I will list the different kits we available that utilize these components.

2 Inch Lift

https://www.superiorengineering.com.au/4×4-suspension/suspension-lift-kits?filter=140,355&attr_filter=2+inch

You can perform a 2 Inch lift on a Nissan Patrol for relatively low cost when compared to a 3 inch.
For a 2 Inch you will only need the basics. Coils, Shocks, Damper and some Castor Correction.

Coil rate selection will not change the pricing of the kits on offer. We can easily supply you with coils to match your loads (i.e Bullbar, Engle Fridge etc).

In shocks and coils we offer the following brands-
– Dobinson
– Ironman
– Superior Engineering
– Tough Dog

Once that decision has been made, we look at Castor Correction, which can be supplied in two forms.

– The first – Castor correction bushes. With these bushes you get to keep your standard arms.
– The second – Replacement Radius Arms. These arms retain standard bushes, as opposed to needing castor corrective bushes. They have the correct castor angle manufactured into their design. They give excellent drive-ability,, steering feel and handling characteristics.
– We offer 2 Inch lift kits with our Superflex Radius Arms.

If you like, we can manually piece together a kit that will match your needs or brand preferences.
You may want Dobinson Coils with Tough Dog Shocks and standard radius arms, or Superlfex arms with Superior Shocks and Superior Coils.

3 Inch Lift

https://www.superiorengineering.com.au/4×4-suspension/suspension-lift-kits?filter=140,355&attr_filter=3+inch

3 Inch is where lifts become a bit more pricey. With a 3” lift fitted, Patrols suffer a lot of geometry changes that hurt the handling and ride badly.

Aside from castor correction which will be achieved using replacement radius arms, you will need new Panhard Rods Front and Rear, a new drag link, Adjustable rear uppers, extended brake lines and a brake proportioning valve extension.

The easiest way to decide on a 3 inch kit, is to decide on Shock / Coil brand. These kits will all include the remaining items you need.
Coil/Shock brand choice is the same as per the 2 inch advice. Again, Coil rates will not change the pricing of the kit you want to go with.

To make it a little easier on you, my advice would be for you to let me know a price range you want to work with, preferred height (2 inch, 3 inch, or both), and a brand preference for the shocks and coils if you have one.
Once I have this information I will be able to narrow down your options and advise which of them would be best suited to your needs.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks again.

Subject: Canopy

Message Body: I got a Holden colorado 2×4.
I need a canopy for the back.
How much will this cost me?

Good Afternoon Brendan

Thank you for your enquiry into a Canopy for your Colorado.

We sell only 4×4 components and accessories, however it is highly likely that the 2×4 and 4×4 Colorado share the same tray.

With this in mind you may be able to fit a 4×4 canopy to your 2×4.

I need to know the following information to be able to work out a price –

– What model and Year is your Colorado?
– Single cab or dual cab?
– Style side tub or flat tray?
– What colour is your ute?
– Do you want it shipped to you or will you pick it up?
– If we are shipping, your post code so that I can determine a freight cost.

Once I have all this information I will be able to look into a canopy for you.
Thank you.

Message Body: G’day,
Is there a upgrade for the suspension of the latest Pajero 4WD Diesel?
With such an upgrade does the towing ability change?
Is there a process to have the upgrade certified by an Engineer?

Many thanks for some info.

Hi Leo, thank you for your enquiry. To answer your question, yes there are upgrades available for your suspension but as far as GVM or towing capacity changes there isn’t any options available for the Pajero.

I can certainly put together a kit for you to help the vehicle carry or town better but it won’t legally increase the GVM or towing capabilities.

Subject: D23 NP300

Message Body:I have just purchased a 4×4 D23 NP300 rear coil sprung Nissan Navara.

My main driving is in Adelaide, lightly loaded, at maximum highway speed, about 20,000 Km per annum BUT I also need ability moderately loaded, off road for about 5000 Km per annum – this varies from high speed dirt to crawling up difficult rocky slopes.

I want to maintain on road handling and comfort as much as possible.

It occurs to me that the best modification would be to change to full a full airbag installation.

Ride height would be maintained by varying pressure either on or off road.

Extra height could be obtained for difficult off road sections at the flick of a switch.

I would be happy to be involved using my vehicle to develop such a conversion.

Hi John,

We aren’t looking at doing any R&D on full air kits for the NP300.
We do have a range of suspension kits that have proven very effective with the NP300 though (with and without airbags).

Hi Mick,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We have in the past fitted may in our workshop with no issues.

We have however had a couple that we have freighted out where customers have experienced issues with installation.

I would suggest they will fit, however some checking of components for clearance beforehand would be essential.

If you check the mounting points up on the chassis have 2 holes in them per side and plenty of clearance to fit the bracket.

This will ensure smooth installation.

I hope this helps

Hi Rogan,

We have the MSA 4×4 Drop slides.

Generally, the length of the tailgate doesn’t allow this to happen, as the slide would have to come out too far.
No one has a slide that will handle that amount of weight or balance, due to the extended length it needs to come out.

I’m looking for a set of rock sliders for a Troop carrier VDJ78, do you manufacturer sliders to suit this model of Landcruiser?

Good morning Charles,

We haven’t had a chance to build a set to suit a the troop carrier or ute because of the way the exhaust runs across the chassis to the outside and then back again because of the fuel tanks setup, unlike the dual cab which it just runs on the inside of the chassis rail.

Are you local to us by any chance, if so and we could get your car for a week, we could use it as a test fit.
