Superior Adjustable Remote Reservoir Shocks

Superior Adjustable Remote Reservoir Shocks

MadMatt 4WD Reviews the Superior Engineering Remote Reservoir Shock Absorber

Fully Adjustable For Complete Control

8-Stage Compression Adjuster reservoir gives you the ability to precisely adjust compression from soft to firm with the simple twist of a knob. Allowing you to soften the ride when just cruising or firm up the compression when tackling rough terrain or carrying a load.

Heat Treated Alloy Steel Piston

Features race inspired port configurations and variable rate shim stack technology to provide vehicle specific damping performance and optimum ride quality. A composite Teflon wear band offers low internal resistance and high compressive strength enhancing shock performance.

Spherical Rod End Assembly – Strut

High performance spherical rod end assembly designed for correct clearance and increased strength to suit your application. Fitted with Teflon-lined Commercial Grade spherical bearings for smooth articulation and longest life.

Remote Reservoir Canister

Remote Reservoir Canister for increased oil volume, and greater cooling capacity. Internal Floating Piston separates the shock Oil and Nitrogen eliminating Foaming or mixing of the oil and gas that produces shock fade.

Highest Quality Materials

CR3+ plated Bored and Honed cylinder tubes, Aircraft quality billet aluminium components, High pressure hydraulic hose and seals. Plus the 20mm Hard-chromed shafts are designed for maximum strength and durability in lifted and performance applications.

Fully Rebuildable For Long Life

These Superior Remote Reservoir Shocks are fully Rebuildable, Serviceable and Upgradeable. All parts are carried in stock and allow the user to finely-tune, adjust and service their shocks, ensuring you get the longest life possible from your suspension.

Other Features:

  • Large Range of Sizes – Superior remote res shocks are available in sizes from 2″ to 6+”, to suit a wide range of four wheel drive vehicles.
  • Specific Valving – Superior shocks are designed with our own specific valving, designed for Australian conditions, not available in any other shock absorber in Australia.
  • Spherical Bearings on Struts – Our struts come standard with high quality spherical bearings, instead of rubber bushes, which can be prone to failure.
  • Adjustable – Come standard with full 8 stages of compression adjustment, with Superior Engineering’s unique adjuster.
  • Piston – Our remote res shocks, have our own uniquely designed 46mm Teflon coated piston.
  • Stock – We hold a large range of stock, in our warehouse and retail store.
  • Build – 20mm super polished shaft and 53mm outer body comes standard.

  1. Recommended settings for remote shock gvm hdj100
Loaded rear bar long range fuel and roof rack
    Hard or soft

  2. what’s the price for a set (front and rear) to suit 2010 crd patrol ute with 3″ lift but the rears are eye to eye (as I have rear leaf conversion plate of yours)?
    cheers

    1. Good Morning

The 8 Stage Adjuster is there so that you can control the ride quality of the vehicle.
As to when to use the 8 settings will come down to personal preference and how you like your car to handle in particular terrain
1 is the softest setting and will be used in light load application or slow moving off road to allow free wheel movement through the terrain
8 is the hardest and should be used in heavy load application to control the extra weight or to stiffen the suspension for a more rigid ride.

I would suggest that you play with the setting throughout the range on all the different train and find when your happy with the ride quality What I think is the right setting and is most comfortable can be too stiff or too soft for you it’s all a personal preference.

  3. would like these for an old daihatsu scat 2.8 diesel. I’m building longer shock towers all round. How will the valving suit this? Will they be soft enough on the softest setting? thinking of nissan patrol rears 2″ lift version. .Thanks, Greg

    1. Good Morning

Thank you for your enquiry into Remote Reservoir Shock Absorbers for your Dihatsu Scat Project.

Provided the open and closed length measurements of the patrol 2” Shocks match that of what you need for your Scat, there is no reason why you should avoid using them.

You can tune the internal valving on the Superior shocks in the exact same way you tune the Amadas. This being the case, the Superior Shocks will be a better option, as you will still have the 8 stages of finer adjustment on the adjuster knob itself.
We can provide you with shocks that have been tuned to match the weights of your vehicle to save you the hassle.

Please be aware, that without the vehicle here to do on car shock testing, it will be hard to know if the tune we come up with will suit your Scat perfectly, but we will make educated decisions when designing this tuning stack.

      The shocks cost $355ea.
The custom tune could cost up to $50 extra per shock, depending on the suitability of the current tuning stack and the shims required to get it them where they need to be for the scat.

If you have any questions or thoughts at all, please do not hesitate to email me.

    1. Good morning Robert, Thank you for your enquiry

The main advantage of a remote reservoir shock over a conventional style is that the remote res having a greater volume of oil run a lot cooler and aren’t prone as much to what is called “shock fade”, which is when the oil in the shock absorber gets hot and boils. Our remote res shocks are fully rebuildable, they are 8 stage adjustable for fine tuning for on and off-road applications.

I hope this has answered your question, if there is anything else I can help with please feel free to ask.
