These drop out cones allow for a larger shock to be used in your 4×4, as the coil springs will be able to drop down approximately 4 inches below the top coil seat, before they will fall out.

Another amazing feature of the “Superior drop out cone” is that they help relocation and seating of the coil when articulating.

Superior Hybrid Radius Arms with Drop Boxes

Introducing the Generation 2.0 Superior Engineering Hybrid Radius Arms with Drop Boxes.

DESIGN OBJECTIVES

These Hybrid Radius Arms and drop boxes are designed to suit GQ and GU Nissan Patrol four wheel drive vehicles.

The problem with the standard Nissan radius arm design is that the rear pin style mounting puts a lot of load on the mushroom bushes when the arms flex down.

This causes the bush to be torn and fail, leading to bad or unsafe handling and steering, premature wear of the arm and sometimes contact of the arm with the chassis.

To eliminate this problem in the standard Nissan radius arms, superior engineering utilize a Toyota style rear bush.

This design change allows increased life from the rear bush, by allowing the arm to rotate down without the binding found in the pin style design, whilst allowing increased flex and articulation in the arms when off road.

Superior Engineering hybrid radius arm are also available with the patented Superflex bush configuration which have the most available flex of any radius arm available for direct fitment to Nissan and Toyota 4wds.

Hybrid drop box design is by far the most efficient and compact available with the lowest point being less than 30mm below the crossmember giving them up to 40mm better ground clearance than some competitors.

These drop boxes are a straight bolt in design and feature tapered leading and trailing edges to aid in sliding up and over even the toughest of obstacles.

The rear of the mount even pockets snugly against the gearbox crossmember for support and smooth styling, as well as maximum clearance.

Superior Engineering Coil Springs

Superior Engineering Coil Springs… designed from the start purely for the best ride and performance available.

The design process started with on-vehicle measurements of the longest aftermarket shock for a given length, this data is then combined with the shock closed length and the suspensions actual physical limits.

Data is then combined with the highest grade of spring material offered in Australia, gives us the ability to produce the longest possible spring whilst still adhering to the required vehicle dimensions for a given lift height.

What this means is you have a longer, slightly softer more linear spring that is captive in the spring seat even when using the longest recommended shock. By having a spring that is not only captive but linear rate at full extension you have good ground pressure even when at near full flex, which dramatically adds to vehicle stability when offroad.

The other major benefit of the longer, slightly softer rate is the far superior ride quality. A short hard spring transmits forces from bumps back into the vehicle much more and doesn’t allow the shock to actually do its jobs of controlling motion of the suspension. The Superior Springs are designed around the same technology of the coilover race springs which when combined with a good shocks will provide unparalleled performance levels.

For vehicles which may carry loads at particular times we do recommended fitting Air-Bag assist.

This way both the ride and load carrying characteristics can be easily adjusted to suit any condition or load requirement.

Heat treatment is the most important step in the coil spring manufacturing process. Hardening and tempering is completed by an extremely precise, electronically controlled furnace to eliminate breakage and sagging.
